Welcome to Ranch Hills
We of Ranch Hills are fortunate to live and work within the Pomona community rich in history and culture. From the early Shoshonis and “Gabrielenos" to the Spanish Ranchos, Phillips Ranch was alive with activity. After serving as ranch administrator for two years, Louis Phillips purchased the 12,000 acre Rancho San Jose de Abajo from Isaac Schlesinger and Hyman Tichler who, in 1864, secured the land deed from Don Ricardo Vejar. Phillips Ranch prospered, particularly with a rail line connected through to Spadra.
Ranch Hills School, home of the "Rattlers", opened its doors in Phillips Ranch in 1990 to help alleviate student overflow at Decker Elementary School. Today, after over 30 years, we continue to meet the needs of our students in this ever changing society. We serve over 400 students in pre-school through sixth grade with nearly 50 certificated and classified support staff. After promoting from Ranch Hills, our students attend Lorbeer Middle School and Diamond Ranch High School.
